At this time of year, we could all do with an extra dose of comfort to keep us going. This turmeric oats recipe does just that - it's the perfect one-pot wonder that you'll have on powering through every morning.
Ingredients
1/2 oats
1 cup water
pinch of salt
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 cardamom pod
1/2 tsp maca (optional - an adaptogen that helps with hormone balance and energy)
Method
Simple but delicious - heat all ingredients in a pan on a slow flame, the longer you give the oats the more delicious and creamy they will be. Stir occasionally for about 10 minutes until the mixture achieves your desired consistency.
Top with dairy-free yoghurt, tahini, maple syrup, nuts and berries - the porridge itself isn't very sweet so I love adding all the toppings. maybe small perks to this weather.
