Golden Balance: Anais Rachel Calzadilla

As we believe it is all about balance in life we have started interviewing high flying//busy individuals who do not automatically fit into your stereo-type ‘health-freak’ box, but instead live very demanding stressful lives and yet manage to create a golden equilibrium between daily strains and a healthy body and mind.

Please tell us a bit about your daily life and what you do for a living?

I’m based in Brooklyn and work as photographic Producer in Chelsea. I liaise between clients, photographers and creative teams so my day to day is very focused on communication. My work life is very fast paced and can be stressful. In my free time I love being with friends, travelling and going on trips in nature. Being in New York is great. It’s an exciting city which has everything to offer. You are also close to the Catskills Mountains and a couple of hours away from the beach.

What does balance mean for you?

Having energy, both in mind and body.

How do you create a golden balance? What are your health tips (supplements, work-outs, eating, therapy etc.)

Drinking a lot of water, eating clean, exercising, reading and being in nature. I used to take a lot of supplements but I focus more on getting the nutrition I need from what I eat.

What is your favourite quote/inspiration?

The soul becomes dyed with the color of its thoughts – M. Aurelius

Making healthy meals can be very time consuming, what do you recommend to busy people that have limited time to prepare food?

There are many simple & quick recipes online for healthy and quick meals during a busy period. I recommend steaming vegetables, it’s a quick and healthy addition to any meal and can be topped with a bit of coconut or olive oil, garlic and salt. Of course, there are plenty of healthy eateries in most big cities that offer great options.

How do you recharge? (favourite place, meditation/yoga, or anything else that resets you)

Hot yoga is really nice for recharging after a busy day but sometimes it takes a little more than that. A nature getaway or a trip home to see family always helps me keep grounded.
