Golden Balance: Lottie Murphy

Today we’re deep diving into the world of renowned Pilates teacher Lottie Murphy, a huge advocate of the nourishing benefits of mindful movement + finding balance. From teaching for international brands like Adidas to hosting retreats all over the world, she shares with us what keeps her glowing on the daily.

- How do you find your daily source of golden balance?

I’m all about balance, positivity and keeping it simple. I feel balanced and happy when I’ve got a little bit of time on my mat doing Pilates and yoga, done work that brings me joy and spent time with my friends and family.

- What element of your work is most lighting you up at the moment?

I love when my work allows me to connect with incredible people. I was recently away in Florida with a group of women who were so inspiring, all working for themselves, owning businesses, brands and embarking on projects that are making such a difference in this world and changing people’s lives.

- Share with us a quote that gives you daily inspiration?

Breathe in- I am calm, breath out- I am still. I can get quite overwhelmed and sometimes this little mantra is all I need to help me look at the bigger picture and find a sense of calm.

- How do you practice nourishment every day?

I love to nourish my body with whole colourful food, daily movement and by getting 8 hours sleep and I nourish my mind with laughter, good friends and reading.

- What are some of your favourite way to wind down?

I love winding down by being in the kitchen, with a candle lit and cooking a delicious dinner to enjoy whilst catching with my boyfriend, family or friends. I also wind down by watching a feel good film or TV series and I love listening to podcasts although sometimes they will give me inspiration and make me feel motivated to have the opposite effect. I also find writing a good to do list helps me wind down and makes me feel calmer.

- Ingredients wise, what are your three non-negotiables in the kitchen?

A good sea salt, smoked paprika and dark chocolate.

- Now tell us, do you have a guilty pleasure?

A glass or 2 of wine especially this time of year when it’s dark outside and I’m feeling festive and socialising with friends.

- Matcha or turmeric latte?

Turmeric latte. I love it in the evening as it helps with my digestion or in the afternoon as a little pick me up.

Lottie is hosting her first ever Pilates retreat alongside her mother Jacqui in stunning Algarve, Portugal next September. Head on over to Lottie’s website to find out more, and drop into to her YouTube channel to get your daily Pilates fix.
