Our 1% Revenue Promise
THE WUNDER FOREST - PLANTING TREES IN THE HEART OF THE WORLD
As part of the 1% of our yearly revenue, we plant trees in the Sierra Nevada, Colombia. During the last 3 years, we contributed to planting 1000s of trees to create the start of a 'Wunder Forest' in Bunkwimake with the Ikú community in the Sierra Nevada, Colombia. These 1000+ trees are growing in an agro-forestry together with cacao trees and are being looked after by the local community who use their ancestral knowledge to nurture the land, preserving nature and ancient wisdom. This is key in the restoration and preservation of the natural ecosystem, in the heart of the world.
PLANTING MANGROVES IN SRI LANKA
As part of Sen Wellness's conservation project we are planting mangroves in Sri Lanka. These resilient trees, which take root in the mud below shallow water, provide shelter from predators for the young of many reef fish species, replenishing fisheries and supporting the livelihoods of those who depend on them. They dissipate the force of tropical storms and reduce damage to coastal communities.
Perhaps most importantly, mangroves absorb up to 50 times more carbon than other ecosystems, playing a key role in efforts to mitigate climate change.
MOTHERS IN SRI LANKA
We invest 1% of our revenue in community projects. We support AMMA through giving all of the profits from our Avocado dyed aprons and turmeric dyed pouches (our CBD oil is packed in these) to AMMA SRI LANKA.
AMMA trains and employs mothers living in the Sri Lankan highlands to turn food waste and plants into natural dyes creating sustainable textiles, ethically handmade.
The mothers AMMA employs come from the tea estates that surround their workshop. They are from low income backgrounds and are now principle contributors to the household finances. We could not be prouder of this, and see AMMA's employees becoming role models within their communities.
