Golden Balance: Kyle Gray

As the notion of equilibrium becomes increasingly elusive in our day-to-day, our Golden Balance series taps into those all-important moments of pure stillness and internal reflection. We sit down with a collection of inspiring souls and discover what keeps them cool, calm and collected despite daily stresses.

Angels whisperer to the stars, Lululemon ambassador and meditation guru Kyle Gray shares his most treasured self-care rituals and inspirations.

Hi Kyle- We would love you to tell us little about you and your story.

First of all, thank you for having me – it’s pleasure to be here. It all started when I had a virus when I was 3 and a half years old. It started out as the flu and led to me being paralysed in a wheelchair.

During the same time my Grandmother whom I called ‘Nana’ was also in a wheelchair and we lived in the same house. Although we were already close our bond became inseparable and to make things easier for my mother who was our carer she would often sit me in my Nana’s lap so we could share a wheelchair and go off on adventures. Over the next 8 months or so my body naturally healed itself and my Nana’s health sadly deteriorated.

I remember one night my Nana was moved to hospital and a neighbor was babysitting me while my parents were at the hospital watching over Nana. I remember waking up through the night with Nana sitting at the bottom of my bed – she seemed happy and she turned me over and tickled my back – I fell asleep feeling so loved.

When I asked where Nana was the next morning – my Mum couldn’t answer. She had passed away. This left me wide open with questions and my whole life has been in search of the answers. Why did I see her? How could I see her?

I’ve since went on to study all aspects of metaphysics, spiritual experiences, yoga and meditation. My specialty is in the field of angels and energy – my vision is to help others recognize that they have the capacity to have a personal supportive relationship with the divine no matter what they want to call it.

How do you find your daily source of golden balance?

I like to nourish my body with great nutritious foods, daily yoga and also I’m an avid gym goer. Just knowing I am fueling myself well is a good feeling and I have found incredible mental clarity from practicing yoga and visiting the gym.

I like to nourish my mind and soul with a daily spiritual practice that is simple but yet effective. Daily I thank the Earth, the Heavens and the angels all around me. I take moments to really root down into the Earth in meditation and throughout the day I come back to my practice and reflect with gratitude upon blessings I have received.

I have found just pointing out the good stuff in my life allows me to experience even more blessings ☺

How important is self-care to you, and do you often implement it into your regular rituals?

MEGA.

Often self-care is seen as a body thing – but for me it’s about mental emotional wellbeing too. One huge aspect of self-care for me is being able to say NO. If there’s something I can’t do or know that should I take it on I’ll be left short of energy, time or space I will say NO. I believe often when we say no to others we are saying yes to ourselves.

Share with us a quote that gives you daily inspiration.

“We can never obtain peace in the world if we forget the inner world and don’t make peace with ourselves” – His Holiness The Dalai Lama

We know nourishment from the inside out is fundamental to you. How do you practice this everyday?

Eating plant based as possible and daily green smoothies. I love love love my vitamix it’s the most used thing in my kitchen ☺ My favourite power smoothie is super simple: almond milk, vega protein powder, 100g spinach or kale, 1 banana! YUM

What are some of your favourite ways to wind down?

Every single night I have my pre bedtime shower, cake myself in lavender oil and enjoy a peppermint tea in bed with whatever book I’m reading. Right now it’s Hilary Clinton’s ‘What happened’ which I am thoroughly enjoying.

Ingredients-wise, what are your three non-negotiables in the kitchen?

Right now it’s: Brown rice, Sweet Potatoes and Oats (CARBS ANYONE?)

Now tell us, do you have a guilty pleasure?

If you mean with food: It’s ALWAYS PIZZA. Go hard or go home!

If you mean with alcohol: Pinot Noir or BrewDog’s Punk IPA

If you mean with television: The Kardashians (I love them)

What is your favourite way to use turmeric, be it in your beauty regime or recipes?

I take it as a supplement! My mum is a huge turmeric fan and shared this roasted cauliflower in turmeric and grassfed butter recipe with me (I just change the butter to coconut oil) ☺

Coffee or turmeric latte?

Sorry guys – Coffee wins! Almond milk flat white please ☺

Psychic Protection 101: Cleanse, Tone + Moisturise

Kyle has also shared with us a daily energy protection ritual from his new book Light Warrior. He suggests implementing it into your morning and evening rituals. This helps prevent others from clinging to your energy and being brought down by the weight of the world.

Follow these three steps:

1. Cleanse

In order to safely protect your energy – you need to cleanse it completely of any left-over energy that is not serving you. You can remove anything that’s hooked on or attached to you from a challenging conversation, place or person.

How to cleanse:

“Thank you Universe & Angels, for cutting the cords that bind me to people, places, energy, situations and any other stuff I no longer need. It feels so good to know you are here. I am safe and free!”

2. Tone

Toning is all about firming up the goodness that is already there. When it comes to toning your energy it’s about focusing on an aspect of your present positivity or harnessing a blessing or choosing to remember your current state of goodness. This ignites the warrior energy within.

How to tone:

Claim your wholeness by declaring that you are completely in control of your body because it’s the vehicle of your soul. You can say this in your own words but make sure you are speaking in present tense and REALLY putting your foot down. Let the Universe and your guides bear witness to the incredible inner-strength that you were born with.

My favourite declaration is powerful, effective and simple:

“I AM THE KEEPER OF MY MIND AND BODY.

WHEREVER LOVE IS PRESENT, FEAR IS A STRANGER.

LOVE IS HERE!”

When I say “love is here” I tap my heart three times so I can feel a physical response to what I really know and trust deep within.

3. Moisturise

When you are moisturising your energy – you are essentially putting on that safeguard coating that you know is going to lock in the goodness. This is the step that everyone knows from various books and healing modality trainings but this step will not be as effective unless the previous steps have been taken.

TOP TIP: When doing any light armour work – make sure that the protective light you create goes wider than just your body. I recommend it going 10-20 feet in each direction – really bring that into your vision and intention.

How to Moisturise:

Visualisation: Imagine a cloak of light swirling all over your whole entire body (colour of your choice) or imagine yourself in incredible armour from head to toe.

Light Warrior which has already taken the wellness book charts by storm is currently available on Amazon today.
